2. Card Declines: Reasons & Quick Fixes
When a business card payment is declined, the table below helps you identify the reason and take immediate action:
Issue / Prompt | Why It Happened | How to Resolve It |
Card Inactive / Frozen | Your card is temporarily locked or not activated. | Open the Wio Business app, go to Cards, select your card, and tap Unfreeze or complete card activation. |
Insufficient Funds | Account balance is lower than the transaction amount. | Top up your main currency Current Account or transfer funds from a Saving space into your Current Account. |
Card Limit Exceeded | The purchase exceeds your daily or monthly card spending limit. | Go to Cards > select your card > Settings > adjust your spend limits. |
Card Feature Disabled | Online shopping, contactless payments, or international usage is turned off. | Go to Cards > Settings > turn on the toggle for Online payments, Contactless payments, or International spending. |
Incorrect CVV / Expiry Date | The 3-digit security code or expiry date entered was incorrect. | Check your card details in the Wio Business app under Cards > Show card details and re-enter the correct CVV and expiry date. |
Incorrect PIN Entered Multiple Times | The card was temporarily locked for security after multiple incorrect PIN entries. |
|
Magstripe Not Supported | The merchant terminal attempted to read the magnetic stripe. | Wio cards operate on high-security Chip & PIN and Contactless (NFC) technology. Request the merchant to insert the chip or tap via contactless. |
Merchant Not Supported / Restricted Category | Certain transaction categories (e.g., money transfers, wire orders, crypto brokers, quasi-cash) cannot be processed via card spending under banking regulations. | Use an alternative payment method, such as a direct bank transfer from your Current Account. |
Temporary Network / System Timeout | Temporary network communication timeout between the merchant terminal and the card payment network. | Wait a few moments and ask the merchant to re-attempt the transaction. |
3. Apple Pay & Mobile Wallets for Business
Adding Your Business Card to Apple Pay
You can add your Wio Business debit and credit cards directly to Apple Wallet:
Supported Devices: You can add your Wio card to up to 10 Apple devices (iPhone, Apple Watch, iPad, Mac).
How to Add from the Wio Business App:
Open the Wio Business app and navigate to Cards.
Select your card and tap Add to Apple Wallet.
Follow the on-screen prompts to authenticate and verify your card.
Important Apple Pay Tips:
Independent Tokens: Your Apple Watch and iPhone use separate digital card tokens. Removing a card from your iPhone does not remove it from your Apple Watch.
Blue Checkmark with "Done": Seeing "Done" on your Apple device confirms your phone transmitted card data to the terminal. The final approval comes from Wio Bank—if the merchant terminal declines, check your Wio Business app for the specific reason (such as spend limits or insufficient balance).
"Card Not Added – Contact Your Issuer" Error: Ensure your card is active and unfrozen in the Wio Business app, your registered mobile number is ready to receive SMS verification, and your device region settings are correct.
Lost or Stolen Apple Devices: Put your device into Lost Mode via
iCloud.com/findor the Find My app to immediately suspend Apple Pay tokens. You can also freeze your card in the Wio Business app.
4. Accounts, Balances & Cashback
Understanding Account Balances & Holds
When viewing your business account in the Wio Business app:
Total Balance: The full balance in your account.
Available Balance: The money you can immediately spend or transfer.
Why is Available Balance lower than Total Balance?
Merchant Pre-Authorizations (Auth Hold): When booking corporate travel, renting vehicles, or making card purchases, the merchant places a temporary pre-authorization hold on the funds. The hold is cleared when the merchant finalizes the charge or automatically releases after up to 21 days.
Pending Account Fees: Any scheduled subscription (such as the Grow plan fee) or administrative charges on hold until settled.
Monthly Cashback Rules
Eligibility: Available to Grow Plan subscribers on Wio Business.
Payout Schedule: Cashback earned on eligible settled business credit card spending (up to AED 2,000/month) is credited directly to your AED Current Account on the 1st day of the following month.
Eligible Spends: Applies to standard retail purchases. Excluded categories include money transfers, quasi-cash, financial institutions, and security broker funding.
5. Cards & Lending Management
Physical Card Ordering & Activation
Default Card: You receive an instant digital card upon account approval.
Ordering a Physical Card: Go to Cards > tap the option to order a physical card and confirm your delivery address.
First-Time Activation: Once delivered, activate your physical card by making a purchase at any store POS terminal using Chip & PIN, or by performing a balance inquiry/cash withdrawal at an ATM.
Restoring Daily Transfer Limits on Android (Biometrics)
To protect your business account against unauthorized remote access, Android devices without biometric authentication enabled operate under a temporary outbound transfer limit (AED 25,000/day).
How to restore your standard daily limit (AED 500,000/day):
Ensure your phone has screen lock and fingerprint/face unlock set up in your device’s Settings.
Fully close the Wio Business app from your phone's recent apps screen.
Reopen the Wio Business app and log in.
Tap your profile icon > Settings > toggle Face or Touch ID to ON.
Your standard transfer limit will be restored immediately.
Credit Limits & AutoPay Settings
AutoPay Timing: Automatic credit repayments run at 9:00 PM on your scheduled monthly due date.
Autopay from Saving Space: Turn on the Autopay from Saving Space toggle in your credit settings to allow Wio to automatically draw from your Flexi Saving Space if your Current Account balance is insufficient on your due date.
Credit Limit Adjustments: You can lower your credit limit anytime in the app (minimum limit: AED 1,000) under Credit > Manage > reduce your credit limit.
